While we hope that fact put you at ease, we know applying for an auto loan can still be stressful. Over the years, we’ve noticed that the process is often worrisome because motorists don’t know what information they’ll need to provide. To eliminate that stress, we thought it would be a good idea to discuss some of the documents we’ll need to see to process your loan application.
For starters, we’ll need to see proof of your identity. A state-issued ID or a military ID is normally all we’ll need to see. If your ID has your current address on it, the ID will suffice as proof of your residence. People whose ID has an old address must prove where they live by providing a recent mortgage statement or a utility or cell phone bill that includes their current address.
Because lenders want to know that you can repay them, we’ll also need to see proof of your income. A few recent pay stubs or your federal tax returns from the past year or two are all we need to see to satisfy this requirement.
If you’re trading in a car, we’ll need to see its registration. Do you own your current vehicle outright? If so, we’ll need to see its title as well.
